Roof refurbishment Project Using Composite Slates
We were contacted by the manager of residential care home located in Swansea. A conservatory had been built a number of years ago as an addtion to the main building. Despite being re-furbished in recent years the roof continued to leak in a number of places.
The roof itself, although small in terms of area, had quite complex detailing given its hexagonal shape and roof windows. Difficulty was added by the fact that the structure was abutted on 3 sides by the main building, giving the need for lead flashings, soakers and box gutters that channelled rain water run-off from the main roof planes as well as that from the conservatory roof.
The roof and associated detail needed to be completely strippped-off. New felt, batten, roof window flashings and lead detail were installed to BS5534 standard. New composite roof tiles and ridges were fixed to complete the installation.
